Sustainable Design is a design philosophy that seeks to maximize the quality of the built environment,
while minimizing or eliminating negative impact to the natural environment.
Jason F. McLennan, "The Philosophy of Sustainable Design"
Save Energy - Save Resources - Save Money!!
Sustainability provides for the needs of today without impacting the needs of future generations. Green building is an important part of sustainability.
There are many ways to incorporate sustainability into a building project. And the end results can be very rewarding!
Eco-Sensibility. Sustainability is a practical approach to any building project. It is an integrated approach that combines the following basic elements: Energy Efficiency, Water Conservation, Wise Use of Materials, Healthy Indoor Environmental Quality, Reducing Negative Impacts of Construction on the Land.
Eco-Nomics. A sustainable design can put money in your pocket! Who wouldn't love: a lower energy bill, increased property values, better health, tax incentives and cash rebates!
By sourcing local products and using local suppliers and businesses, we can strengthen our local economy and increase our local investment four times over.
Eco-Conscious. There's no disputing the scientific evidence that our planet is in trouble. Our ways have to change, so that our children, our grandchildren, and their children can enjoy the same life that we enjoy. Every effort, no matter how small, can make that difference.
Eco-Chic. Who says sustainable design has to be ugly or dull? You can have plenty of good looks and quality elements. Be sure to check out the Photo Gallery!
Eco-Solutions. I am a member of a multi-disciplinary development team that can provide integrated planning, design and building consulting. With expertise in construction, architecture, landscape architecture, renewable energy, IEQ, Material Resourcing, and HVAC, all or part of the team can get your new project on the ground in a sustainable, resource efficient and aesthetic framework.
